I’m Sorry, I Can’t Be Your Facebook Friend

“Well maybe if you added me as a friend on Facebook, Adrianna, I’d be able to see the pictures you are talking about,” said my colleague. “Hm, I’m okay. I wish I could add you, but since we work together, I’d prefer you not to see the obnoxious pictures I take on the weekends,” I replied. It feels like social suicide or at least a huge diss in the virtual face not to accept a person’s friend request on…Read full post

Your Costume Tells All

Categories: 25 For Life, Lifestyle

This month is Halloween. Just in case you didn’t know from the big orange pumpkins sitting on your porch or the huge spider webs that have developed around railings and bushes. Along with Halloween comes a huge eye opener. For some reason, costumes help us see not only what was popular in the past year, but also reminds us of some great childhood memories.

The next time you go out to a Halloween party or a bar during October,…Read full post

Buffy Summers… My Samantha Stevens

(PCM) The first two seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer started off with this narration, “In every generation there is a Chosen One. She alone will stand against the vampires, the demons, and the forces of darkness. She is the Slayer.” This referred to Sarah Michelle Gellar’s character, Buffy Summers. I’d personally like to add “and Adrianna’s childhood hero” to that list of roles she fills.

Every boy has a character that he could look up to, plus there are so many to choose from: Superman, Batman,…Read full post

Spreading Myself Paper Thin

Monday night I had class until 9 PM, before I had to head out on my hour train ride home. The next evening I made dinner plans with my high school friend Rachel. On Wednesday, I stayed at my grandparent’s house to grab some food and to watch a movie. Thursday I made sure to eat dinner at home with my family, before heading over to my friend Nataly’s house to watch Glee. Friday I went out to…Read full post

Who Runs The World? Girls!

(PCM) Well, unfortunately, that is not the case! Although there are many women every year, every day, who accomplish much to advance women, we still are not allowed to play in the same ball park, if you know what I mean.

But, at the end of the day, the question remains:  What would really help us progress?  What would help a sister out? Then it dawned on me after I read this old quote from Rachel Mcadams, “Chris Rock once said something that was really interesting. He said, ‘Women would…Read full post

Venting Versus Gossiping

“Stop talking behind my back!” Ramona yelled to fellow cast mate Heather on The Real Housewives of New York. Actually, every episode of this hit Bravo show consists of Ramona yelling at someone, and this season Heather is on the receiving end of her wrath.

If you don’t watch the show, keep up the good work. I unfortunately got sucked into it one Sunday afternoon while I cleaned my room and left the channel on too long. What resulted…Read full post

Stop Light Parties

(PCM) “I don’t get how we are supposed to know if someone has a girlfriend unless they post ‘I have a girlfriend’ in big bold letters across their shirt,” said my friend Lisa.

On a drizzly Friday night, my girlfriend Lisa and I embedded ourselves in my suede couch and shared our weekly stories. If you remember, Mr. Rogers too used to share stories from his neighborhood, humble abode sporting sweater vests, reading from a book about Thomas…Read full post

Hair-ology!

(PCM) I never thought the day would come when I would dedicate an entire article to the subject of hair. But, if someone spends every day brushing it, every weekend styling it, and every month cutting it, then hair is actually so much more important than we think and worth some serious consideration. I have decided to depict my own “hairology,” which basically reflects on what it means when I color my hair and how it changes my mood.

For myself, I have been about every shade of blonde or…Read full post

Best Time of Our Lives

(PCM) “These are the final few years where we can really live for ourselves, so let’s drink.” I can’t tell you how many times my guy friends have said this in the past year as an excuse to why we should continue day drinking and getting obliterated.

As 25-year-olds, for some reason they think that the best years are behind us. I have heard that whole “those were my best years,” in every stage of my life from various mentors. When I was in high school, I…Read full post
