Are 10-minute Workout Sessions Enough?

Think you don’t have enough time to exercise? Well, if you can spare ten minutes here and there, you do. You just have to find 10 minutes, three times a day and you’ll reap the same benefits as if you went to the gym for a half hour.

A study at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh found that overweight women dropped equal amounts of weight doing one 30-minute workout, two 15-minute sessions, or three 10-minute bouts.

That sounds a lot more manageable, right? There’s no excuse not to exercise! 10 minute bouts of jump rope will burn 300 calories or more if you do it just three times a day. Jump rope during your favorite TV shows, or while the baby is down for a nap. Or do 10 or 15 minute circuits (no rest) of jumping jacks, push-ups, lunges, squats or free weights whenever you have the time – just make it intense. You’ll firm up, slim down, and have more energy throughout the day!
