Bob Barker may be famous for his game show hosting days, but there’s something he’s more passionate about than giving away cars and network cash – giving away his own money! Well, for animals that is.
Once again, the animal activist has stepped forward to help animals in need. He is reportedly spending $880,000 to fly three elephants from Toronto Zoo to a California sanctuary aboard a private cargo plane! The elephants, Thika, Iringa and Toka, are the last three remaining elephants at the zoo, where the Candian climate is just too cold for the large animals.
They were originally scheduled to arrive by truck, but one of the elephants developed a foot problem that could have been fatal. Barker, 88, offered to pay to fly all three of the animals to their new home at the PAWS Sanctuary in San Andreas, California.
Barker said the elephants “have suffered so much for so long and now they have an opportunity to live the rest of their lives at what has been described as ‘elephant paradise.’ To think that one of them might not survive the trip in a truck touched my heart and purse strings.”
Way to go Bob!
