Moms not only have a huge impact on their children’s lives, but they are quickly becoming a consumer and political force to be reckoned with. In particular, moms are increasingly outraged about the widespread use of toxic chemicals in household products, and want to do something about it.
That is why the nonprofit Healthy Child Healthy World has created Healthy Child Party Week, offering a party kit that makes it easy for any mom to teach their friends how to create a safer home for their families! Already more than 150 moms have signed up to host, including celebrities Jenna Elfman, Kelly Preston, Liza Huber (with her mom Susan Lucci), Laila Ali, Elisabeth Rohm, Alysia Reiner, Jennifer Taylor and Sasha Alexander. The organization is hoping to double this number before Party Week begins.
“There is nothing more important than the health of our children,” said Rachel Lincoln Sarnoff, CEO and Executive Director of Healthy Child Healthy World. “With scientific evidence linking chemicals to asthma, autism, cancer, allergies, diabetes and more, it’s crucial that we spread the word about how to reduce toxic exposures.”
Here’s how it works: Sign up with a tax-deductible $25 donation for shipping and handling of the party kit, and within two weeks receive a kit filled with educational materials, party planning tools, and $300 worth of natural product samples. Hosts invite up to 15 friends and family to meet on an appointed date at a home, business, school or community center. Together, they view the DVD, distribute the samples and discuss Healthy Child’s 5 Easy Steps – with the goal of making long-term changes to protect their kids health. That’s all!
“I had no idea about all the potential toxins in my household until I personally attended a Healthy Child Healthy World party in 2007,” said Jenna Elfman, who played Dharma in the hit ABC TV show Dharma & Greg. “I was pregnant with my first son and learned so much in one short afternoon. It opened the door to much healthier living for my family and I am forever grateful. Now I just want to return the favor.”
Each person who pledges to host a Healthy Child Party during Healthy Child Party Week will be automatically entered to win a weekly prize from sponsors. Healthy Child Healthy World will share party stories, photos and videos on Facebook.
Since 2009, more than 4,000 hosts have used the Healthy Child party kits to educate friends, family and co-workers about protecting our children.
