(PCM) Can you imagine if you were to receive a billing invoice for each and every time that you unfortunately had to bail on a friends party or get together? Sounds pretty bizarre, right?
Well, it seems that one mother in Cromwell, England has taken no-show’s to her child’s birthday party, which was held at the Ski Slope and Snowboard Centre, quite seriously and has gone as far as to send a billing invoice home from school with a child who failed to attend.
When 5-year old Alex Nash was invited to his friends birthday party, his father Derek responded to the invitation sending an RSVP that said Alex would be able to attend the event.
Unfortunately, it was later discovered that Alex was already scheduled to spend the day with his grandparents on the day of the party and Alex ended up choosing to spend the day with them rather than attend the party.
Derek claims that he made an attempt to locate a contact number for Julie Lawrence, the parent hosting the party, to let her know that Alex would no longer be able to attend, but claims he was not able to find any way to contact her.
Derek claims that he and his partner also looked for Lawrence at the children’s school to again apologize for Alex’s no-show, but were unable to locate her. They later discovered a brown envelope in Alex’s school bag that contained a billing invoice in the amount of £15.95 for a “no-show” party fee.
Lawrence had passed the envelope with the invoice off to Alex’s teacher, who bypassed school protocol and sent the note home in Alex’s school bag. Derek decided to visit the address listed on the invoice to let Lawrence know that he was unhappy with the invoice and would not be paying her anytime of “fee”.
Now it seems that the incident is escalating even further as Lawrence is prepared to take the Nash family to small claims court. She says that she was stuck with out of pocket costs for the “no-show” and that her contact information was clearly stated on the initial invitation.
