Deep-Fried Cereal: Carnival Food Gone Too Far?

You’ve heard of fried Oreos, candy bars, ice cream, and even fried butter – maybe you’ve even tried a few of these carnival abominations. But what about kids cereal? Maybe a nice fried cereal ball made with Cinnamon Toast Crunch to go with your hotdog?

That’s right, deep-fried cereal. Isn’t that stuff bad enough for you as it is? Then again, if people are eating fried butter on a stick then they’ll eat just about anything! Fair food vendor “Chicken” Charlie Boghosian is known for introducing some of the most outrageous fried conconctions seen at summer fairs. He introduced deep-fried Kool-Aid balls last year, and the year before that deep-fried Twinkies. This year, he debuted his Totally Fried Cereal at the San Diego County Fair booth in Del Mar, California.

“These deep-fried Trix aren’t for kids, unless you want to contribute to the obesity problem,” wrote Shauntel Lowe, who previewed the treat for the Imperial Beach Patch website. “The doughy ball of greasy cereal wasn’t bad, but it definitely isn’t something I’d go out of my way to buy.”

Hopefully, we can all agree this is not something to let children get their hands on.
