Fit Tip of the Day: Just 10 Minutes of Exercise Can Cut Heart Disease Risk!

(PCM) Think you have to carve out an hour of your day to devote to exercise each and every day? Unless you’re training for a marathon or triathlon, or have a lot of weight to lose, you don’t need hour-long workout sessions every time you work out. If heart health is your goal, you might just need 10 minutes.

That’s right, just 10 minutes of exercise at 95 percent maximum heart rate can widen blood vessels and cut disease risk, according to Men’s Health. Of course, you’ll want to vary and increase your workout times: variety is the key to optimal health! But if you’re not exercising – whether it’s because you think you don’t have enough time or you just can’t fathom the idea of working out for an hour a day – ten minutes can do wonders.

Add one day of strength training a week (just about 30 minutes), and one day of cardio (30-60 minutes) – whether it’s hiking, going for a bike ride, or even just a long walk in the park with a pal – and you’re looking at a pretty solid workout routine that’s short on time and easy to stay on top of.
