(PCM) Kate Walsh may be in amazing shape, but you won’t find her treading away at the gym. The Private Practice doctor knows the importance of eating healthfully and exercising, but she follows her own doctor’s orders when it comes to exercise and eating healthfully.
“I take my dogs out walking and hiking. I like to be outdoors when I’m not working,” she tells Fitness magazine.
“I do Pilates and I also recently started doing ballet, which has been great. I’m not a huge runner so the ballet has been amazing because it gets your heart rate up, so it’s cardio. It’s also great for posture and alignment.”
She’s also a snacker, and despite enjoying the occasional bag of potato chips, she tries to snack healthfully:
“I have a theory of why people go for the bad food, myself included—it’s easier to eat. Potato chips are easier to grab than, say, grilled chicken and vegetables. But I like baby carrots and I’ll take them in a little Ziploc bag or have them in my trailer at work. Or almonds, but I like them roasted or smoked like tamari almonds.”
If you want to make a healthy exercise regimen stick, it’s important to find what works best for you! Try hiking like Walsh, or try different group classes until you find one you actually want to commit to.
