(PCM) Whatever your temptation is – whether it’s one of those chocolate cupcakes you just baked for the PTA meeting tomorrow afternoon or take-out from that new pizza place that opened down the street – wait it out!
Most temptations last only 20 minutes: That’s about the time it takes for serotonin to bounce back and kill the urge, according to Men’s Health. While it’s okay to give in to your urges every now and then (everyone should indulge in a little comfort food now and then), constantly giving into daily temptations will stretch your waistline, and unfortunately, not your wallet. That’s right, all those little guilty pleasure purchases can add up.
So, next time you find yourself fighting temptation, distract yourself. Read a book, go for a walk, or make a phone call; it’s just 20 minutes, and it just might save your diet – and your wallet!
