This week’s I LOVE FOOD post is all about the lunch meat. I know I mentioned this in a previous blog, but cold cuts are one of my favorite things. If I could be stuck on an island I’d be happy living off of salami and cheese. Preferably mozzarella cheese, but let’s be real, any cheese is good.
Not only cold cuts, but sandwiches are always the right choice. This week I had a hankering for a sandwich I used to get from a local deli years ago. It’s good that some things never change as it was still there.
It has roast beef, turkey, Swiss cheese, and tons of Russian dressing. The key to good cold cuts is to ask for them to slice the meat thinly. I don’t mind if the cheese is thick, but when the meat is sliced thinly then it all melts in your mouth. You get to really have all of the flavors mold into one harmonious combination. I am also always about spreads and vinaigrettes. Mayonnaise, Russian dressing, balsamic vinaigrette, and oil and vinegar are the way to go.
