This week’s I Love Food piece is all about the muffin, English muffin pizzas that is! There is one secret to my family’s recipe that sets this typical dish apart from others. We put the cheese on FIRST. That is right, normally when you construct a homemade pizza, the sauce goes on first. Every movie, book and Italian will tell you the same.
When it comes to English muffin pizzas though, the mozzerella cheese actually melts into all of those nooks and crannies. Especially when you take your first bite into the pizza, you get that sweet flavor of the sauce, then a layer of cheeseyness, followed by an awesome CRUNCH! It doesn’t hurt to put some olive oil on them as they cook in the oven to make them that much greasier ;-).
