I LOVE FOOD: Homemade Pizza

(PCM) This week’s I LOVE FOOD item is homemade pizza. I am not talking about the “Mom and Pop” pizzeria-style. I am talking about the legit, cooked in your home experience.

My family is infatuated with homemade pizza night, which usually lands on a Friday. It definitely lands on a Friday during Lent, but any day is a good day for some cheesy goodness.

The way we concoct our carb-packed creations is first by purchasing the dough. My family goes to a local ShopRite to buy it. Or, if you enjoy a local pizzeria’s taste, you could ask them for extra doughs and they will definitely supply you with some.

Then you begin with laying flour on a rolling surface, and rolling the dough into a circular round shape. (Sometimes we put cornmeal in the flour mixture to crisp-ify it.)

My family uses Red Pack sauce to lay as the foundation, then shredded Mozzerella cheese. The shredded will cook quicker and melt more evenly. When the cheese gets a little brown, it is ready to chow down!
