Kim Kardashian has slimmed down and toned up since her public split from Kris Humphries, and whether you love her or hate her, you can’t deny the reality star looks the best she’s ever looked. So, what’s her secret this time around? Break-up revenge?
Kim trains with high-profile celebrity trainer Gunnar Peterson, who says her routine combines cardiovascular exercise with strength training. Kim alternates cardio intervals with ab, upper body and lower body exercises, which keeps the heart rate up, maximizes calorie burn and tones muscles.
As for her diet, Kim has reportedly cut out all refined sugar, and eats a diet high in protein, like fish and chicken with salads. Peterson told In Touch, “My best advice is to make sure you eat!” Never skip breakfast, and make sure you’re eating something before and after workouts.
Peterson tells clients that the post-workout meal is just as, if not more important than breakfast. “The last thing I yell at my celeb clients like Kim before they walk out the gym is to get some food.”
He recommends something healthy like egg whites, but when worse comes to worst, he says even junk food is better than nothing. “If you don’t eat, you are sending a signal to your body that you might not feed it again, so it tries to hold onto the cheapest fuel source possible, which is fat,” he explains.
