(PCM) You need fat to burn fat! Monounsaturated fats (MUFAs) have been shown to fight belly flab and reduce inflammation. In fact, studies show that people who regularly consume MUFAs have lower body fat levels and are more successful at dropping body fat than those on low-fat diets.
Additional research shows the MUFAs may also reduce the risk of developing certain diseases, including type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke and possibly even certain cancers.
Monounsaturated fats are found in plenty of delicious foods that you probably have in your kitchen right now! Nuts, peanut and almond butter, avocados, olives, sunflower seeds and certain oils like olive, canola, avocado, canola and sesame oil are all excellent sources of MUFAs.
Aim for two to three servings per day, but be sure to watch your portion sizes! Fat has more calories per gram than carbohydrates or protein, making the above sources all very calorie-dense.
