Names seem to have lost their significance in today’s world. People name their child after almost anything, without giving any real thought to what the name means for the child. For instance I know of one couple who named their child Lexus, after the car. The reason for this was because it was a either the car or the child. The name was for the parent not for the child.
I think we need to take our names seriously, especially as we look at weight loss. Maybe there is something in our names that will give us the secret of how to get rid of the pounds that we have put on.
For instance, my full name is Michael Robert Roberto. I got my first name from Michael The Archangel, and my second name, Robert, from my mother’s step-father.
Michael is the Angel that brings down Satan when the end of time comes, and his name means “Who is like God?” My name is not a statement but a question. My middles name, Robert, mean “Bright with Glory” My last name, Roberto, is the Italian for Robert, so all together I have three name phrases, Who is like God? Bright with glory! Bright with glory! It almost sounds like the lyrics to a hymn or one of David’s psalms.
Putting this together I can say I was named after an Archangel bright with God’s glory and I know that there is no one like God, but God, and my life can be bright with His glory. Bright with God’s glory, to the second power. The whole package can be boiled down to, nothing is impossible if I understand who I am, and who God is. The weight can come off.
I encourage you today to find out what your name means and then apply it to your life in specific ways. I think we are all meant to do this, even that poor child who was named after a car. The meaning of Lexus is, “The Protector of mankind.” Imagine where he or she will go if they take that name seriously.
