It’s just seven o’clock in the morning and I only wrote yesterday’s column twelve hours ago. Nothing has happened in the time between except sleep and dreams and I am grateful for that. I woke up this morning with the same headache and this is not good as I have to go to work with it. Hopefully the new medications will kick in.
I have been complaining about being sick for the last few days, and I guess that’s not unusual. But the illness wasn’t the only thing going on. I was blessed quite a bit being able to finish this week’s math paper. This is actually my second time through this course as I failed it the first time. I am doing better and I actually handed in all the work this week and I understood part of it, which is more than I can say about the first time around.
I also know that sometime last week I saw a big old orange October moon. That is one of my favorite sights of the year and I didn’t miss it. I never pay attention to when full moons are happening but somehow I never miss that sight each year. I don’t know how or why, but this too is a blessing.
Along with doing this math class and it’s intensity and I have had the pleasure of reading some new books and re-reading some old. I am just getting through the fourth book of the Harry Potter series and it is amazing how much the movies left out and how much I had forgotten. It’s great re-visiting a book, it’s like spending time with an old friend.
When things get a little rough and it seems like we can’t keep it together, it’s good to look at what we do have and take a second to be grateful. Somehow it makes the troubles seem a bit less heavy.
