The fun thing about writing a daily column (except Sundays) is the ability to think through your day to write out what works and what doesn’t work and to put down in writing the mistakes you’ve made and the triumphs you’ve accomplished. Somehow it makes it more real when you right it down.
So the first tip for the day is to keep a journal, write down what you did during the day, how you exercised and when and what you ate. Writing down what you eat will make you very aware of when and what you put in your mouth.
This weekend wasn’t great for me, though I did exercise every day, I ate a lot of the wrong things. I went to McDonald’s twice as well as had donuts. This is stress eating and I stop as of today. Dealing with stress is something we all we have to learn to do. Many people eat to relieve stress, if that wasn’t true we wouldn’t have come up with the phrase “comfort food”. I need to find ways to relieve stress without putting food into my mouth. I start that journey today.
I wrote in my last column that I go to two services on Sunday. One, is at my regular church, which is Valley Point Church in Glen Mills PA, whose pastor is
Eric Kohler. The evening group is at the home of one America’s favorite snack foods, Teddy Graham. Actually it’s Ted Graham but as this is a weight loss column the humor was just too hard to resist. Some of his closest friends call him Napoleon.
Ted has a vision for people to know God, and so he opens his home every Sunday night to anyone who wants to come. There is a video teaching supplied by Lifechurch.tv and then a time of discussion. His home is haven for many people, because he has made it a safe place. I mention this as it is important to become involved with others while changing your life. People need people to make their goals happen no one can truly do anything alone. Ted is also an inspiration because he does what it takes to make his dream a reality. That attitude changes your own life as well as others around you.
I didn’t give myself my dollar for the last two days as I didn’t keep to my stated ideas. But I am back up today, and staying on track. So today will be different.
I hope all of you have a great day.
