Naomi Watts tells the Dailymail why she’s so honored to be playing Princess Diana in a new movie called Caught in Flight, about the last years of the high-profile princess’s life.
Not every award winning actress gets to play royalty. The article also implies that there was a running bid for this coveted part, as Watts beat out actresses Jessica Chastain and Kiera Knightly for the part.
“It is such an honor to be able to play this iconic role – Princess Diana was loved across the world, and I look forward to rising to the challenge of playing her on screen,” said Watts.
I’m excited for Naomi, and I think the Princess Diana role is well-deserved. She’s one of my favorite British actresses, and the fact that her style is somewhat similar to Diana’s doesn’t hurt either. They both share that air of elegance and poise, so hopefully this role is a good fit for the blond-haired bombshell. Kate Middleton better take notes when this movie comes out because this film will be a royal treat.
