Today during his radio show, “On-Air with Ryan Seacrest,” the host shared the news that Selena Gomez will be assuming the role of ambassador to the Ryan Seacrest Foundation (RSF). The non-profit organization is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for seriously ill and injured children through unique programs that utilize multimedia and interactive platforms to enlighten, entertain and educate.
Back in July, Gomez made a special appearance at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, joining Seacrest as he hosted the first broadcast from the hospital’s multimedia center installed by RSF. As ambassador, she will continue her work with the foundation in an official capacity – visiting new locations and providing inspiration to sick children.
“From the beginning, I could tell that Selena really understood our mission. I’m so grateful that she’s decided to take on this larger role with us, joining our efforts to bring hope and spirit to seriously ill and injured kids,” said Seacrest, founder and chairman of the Ryan Seacrest Foundation. “With her as ambassador, we will continue to expand our programs at children’s hospitals throughout the country.”
The foundation currently has broadcast media centers located at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and will soon be launching centers at Children’s Hospital of Orange County, Boston Children’s Hospital and Children’s Medical Center Dallas.
“The Ryan Seacrest Foundation does such incredible work and I’m thrilled to be a part of it,” said Gomez. “I’m particularly excited about helping to launch a media center in my hometown of Dallas at the Children’s Medical Center and giving back to the kids there.”
The foundation provides young patients with an opportunity to engage in activities related to radio, television and new media, ranging from broadcasting like a disc jockey and playing their favorite songs to watching live artists perform and interviewing celebrities.
The Ryan Seacrest Foundation founding sponsors include the E! Network and The Coca-Cola Company. To support the foundation or to learn more visit: http://ryanseacrestfoundation.org/.
