(PCM) Paint manufacturer Sherwin-Williams have debuted a revolutionary new paint that promises to kill 99.9% of bacteria it comes in contact with after a two hour time period.
They are calling the new product “Paint Shield” and according to Sherwin-Williams is theĀ first EPA-registered microbicidal paint that continuously kills 99.9 percent of Staph, MRSA, E. coli and other bacteria after two hours of exposure.
The company say that this new paint will be a game-changer in coatings technology and there are already plans for it’s use in hospitals and nursing homes. Schools, public places and cruise ships are additional areas where this kind of paint/coatings technology is groundbreaking.
The “Paint Shield” will be released on the market in early 2016 and will sell for $84.99 per gallon. Our main question is just how long do the bacteria killing properties last in the paint before you would need to re-coat?
