That’s right, take it off ladies! It’s time to start saving the planet one bra at a time.
Women are being encouraged to recycle their used bras in Japan’s newest environmental effort, and it’s actually working. In February, Japan’s largest underwear manufacturer, Wacoal, began collecting used bras for a new recycling program. They distributed recycling bags to all of its customers asking them to return their unwanted delicates to the company. So far, Wacoal has collected 350 bags containing nearly 36,000 old bras!
And believe it or not, that turns into nearly 3.59 tons of recyclable material to be processed and used as solid fuel. Hooked together, the bras would reach three times the height of Mt. Everest!
So save your bras, ladies! You never know when they’ll come in handy!
