This week’s I Love Food feature is the cheese fry – done right! Something I have recently been craving are french fries doused in mozzarella cheese and smothered in bacon.
These fries are from Green Rock Tavern in Hoboken, NJ. Green Rock was actually voted Best Happy Hour in a 2010 poll about Hoboken bars. I have personally been to many Happy Hours in this town, and Green Rock has fabulous deals. It would take me about two pages long to explain the great prices they have each day, so instead just click HERE to see for yourself.
As you can see from the link, they have a different special each day. I went with five people on a Thursday night, we had about 14 beers and six appetizers and the bill came out to $42. That was one bill we all didn’t mind splitting. Plus, the food is definitely enjoyable. It is not one of those places where you “get what you pay for.” I had the wings, nachos, mozzarella sticks, more wings, more nachos, and french fries. Each item was delectable.
Getting back to the fries, they are thin and shoe-string-like. The mozz cheese is spread over all of the fries, and the tiny strips of bacon makes it easier to have more bacon per fry. As the dog would say from that commercial, Bacon, Bacon, Bacon, Bacon, Bacon!!!!!!!!! (In case you don’t know what I am talking about, please watch video below as a reference to what I feel like whenever I see or smell something with bacon on it.)
