(PCM)Think you’re too busy to squeeze in a workout? If the First Lady can find time, so can you!
Michelle Obama rises at 4:30 or 5 a.m. to sneak in a workout before her girls wake up, she told iVillage, and Barack isn’t too far behind her.
“Barack and I work out every day. I usually get to the gym before he does. But he is usually there either in the middle of my workout or right at the end. And we’re watching `SportsCenter’ and we’re catching up. That’s why I know so much about sports … and you start having an opinion about (New York Jets quarterbacks Tim) Tebow and Mark Sanchez.”
She doesn’t let travel or a busy schedule get in the way, either, making sure to jump rope or do calisthenics when she’s on the road or doesn’t have time to get to the gym.
“If I don’t have a rope or space, I might do a 30-minute routine that includes a minute of jumping jacks alternating with a minute of push-ups, then some sit-ups. You take a 30-second break and do it again.”
When it comes to dieting, Mrs. Obama says she doesn’t fixate on counting calories. “I try to keep my weight at a certain level,” she tells iVillage. “And I’ve found that as I get older…I don’t like to diet. I like food. I don’t like to have to worry and count every calorie…I just don’t like to live that way.”
