Chipotle Announces They Are Now GMO-Free!

(PCM) In what is a huge move for the company, Chipotle has revealed that they are now using all GMO-free ingredients. The move has been years in the making and now the fast-food restaurant chain is using non-GMO corn which is major ingredient in many of their menu items. The company is also switching from soybean oil to now using non-GMO sunflower oil and rice bran oil for their cooking.

The company’s CEO, Steve Ells, waited patiently for non-GMO crops to be planted and harvested before making the major announcement. It is a first for any major fast-food chain.  Unfortunately, the companies pork and chicken will still be coming from animals which are fed GMO-feed, but the beef will all be pasture-raised cattle.

Ells said in a statement “Chipotle is really showing that there’s a better way to do fast food. They say these ingredients are safe, but I think we all know we’d rather have food that doesn’t contain them.”

Those budget conscious folks can also relax because the new non-GMO menu items will not increase in price, however the price for steak will go up about 4 to 6% this fall.
