(PCM) Rachael Ray is known to many as a chef, TV host and lifestyle expert. She is also an avid animal lover, strong supporter of ASPCA and adoptive mommy to her rescue pup, Isaboo. Like many Americans, Rachael dotes on her pet. Despite our love for our animals (an estimated 72 millions households own a pet), only 20% of those looking for pets and up adopting from a shelter or rescue group, resulting in the euthanasia of many unwanted animals. Recently, Rachael has partnered with the ASPCA to create the $100K Challenge to inspire local animal shelters to come up with and utilize creative new ways to move animals out of shelters and into homes. Over $500K in grants will be awarded to the 50 shelters across the country competing with each other to get these animals into homes, including a $100K grand prize to the shelter that accomplishes the greatest increase in animal lives saved.
