If you’re feeling extra anxious or worrisome lately, it’s time to turn back the clock and blow bubbles like a kid again! Researchers from Ohio State University found that blowing bubbles is so effective, it can even curb anxiety before major medical procedures and help lessen pain.
“It refocuses your breathing patterns, short-circuiting the shallow breaths associated with the stress-induced ‘fight or flight’ response,” Debbie Mandel, author of Addicted to Stress, tells Woman’s World.
When you blow bubbles, your heart rate slows, your blood pressure lowers, and your diaphragm takes in more oxygen, all of which help to lower adrenaline levels and stress hormones.
The authors of the study say even just pretending to blow bubbles can help…but who wouldn’t prefer a piece of Dubble Bubble? It is for your health, after all!
