I love Epcot, I love Epcot, I love Epcot… Did I mention that I love Epcot? Recently I had a business trip to Orlando, FL to attend a conference. I am so grateful that my job will send me to awesome locations. We have another one each year in St. Louis, but Orlando takes the cake in the “best places to have a business trip” category.
The hotel we stay at is right next to Epcot – it is a 10 minute walk from the resort and the conference even gives us a free pass to walk the park.
Since October is the Food and Wine festival, they have tons of little huts set up around Epcot. Each hut will be labeled with a country and will provide you two to three choices of food as well as two or three choices of alcohol and each item is very cheap. I went to about six different huts or “countries” to try their cuisine. I journeyed to South Africa, Argentina, Hawaii, South Korea, and Germany.
My favorite dish I had was from Hawaii. Aloha winners! They gave me a Kahlua pork slider with a pineapple salsa and spicy chipotle mayo. I was so turned off by the description, but I am obsessed with pulled pork. I decided to stay in line and pay the $3 for the bite size creation.
It was actually delicious and I should have gotten back in line for another one. Although I knew I had to travel around the rest of the world, I would have been completely satisfied with five more of these. All of the flavors balanced each other out, and the pork melted in your mouth. Although I have never been to Hawaii, at least I felt like I was there for 1.5 seconds – as that is how long it took me to eat their dish. 🙂
