I love food, I love pizza, I love pizza bread. This week’s post is a new take on an old favorite, okay I sound like the introduction to a Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives episode.
My mother makes the best pizza bread. I can’t tell you how excited I got to see her concocting the masterpiece when I got home from work, then to see there was some leftover the next day.
She starts with a basic dough. You can either get it from your local supermarket, or get it from a local pizzeria. When I was at college I’d find the place with my favorite dough and buy it from them when I wanted to make homemade pizza.
She then puts some flour on the rolling station as she rolls it out as if she was making a rounded pizza. She then lays down the grated mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, ham, and Swiss. You can do any variation that you like, but this produces the cheesiest and saltiest results.
You roll it up, put a little olive oil on the outside of the dough, put it in the oven until golden brown.
This is a great dish to accompany some wings and beer during a Sunday football game. Pair it with a little marinara to dip and you will be everybody’s favorite person.
