Last week’s post was all about red meat, this week’s post is all about MILK! Three types of milk to be exact. This Calcium-rich dish is called Tres Leches, which literally means it is made up of three types of milk: condensed, evaporated, and heavy cream.
I had my first run in with this dessert at Rumba Cubana in North Bergen, NJ. It was, as you could have guessed, extremely moist. With the first bite it melted or “evaporated” in my mouth with a ton of sweet flavor. What’s nice about this plate is that it is light and refreshing.
The picture above is the Tres Leches from Noches de Colombia in Englewood, NJ. (Even though they have MANY locations in New Jersey.) The best part about the one from here, besides the fact that the presentation is beautiful, is the light, fluffy frosting. The frosting has a perfect vanilla taste. It is a great way to end your meal after indulging in a Bandeja Paisa or a Bistec Empanizado. ENJOY!
