Since stripping down on the cover of August’s Shape magazine to reveal her 50-pound weight loss, everyone is dying to know Jordin Sparks’ secret behind her amazing transformation.
But it shouldn’t come as a big surprise that there’s nothing magical behind her weight-loss – just a lot of hard work!
“There is no secret,” she told UsWeekly. “It’s just eating better and working out! It’s definitely a daily thing.”
Sparks’ workout of choice? Zumba!
“My mom’s best friend is a Zumba instructor and I loved it. I started with walking then went to jogging and then Zumba. I started [working with a trainer] and we did 30 minutes of circuit training so I didn’t feel like I needed to be in the gym for two hours.”
But everyone knows abs are made in the kitchen! Sparks had to makeover her diet, adding healthier choices and saying ‘no’ to seconds. “I stop now when I’m full. I love food and I love to eat. My thing was, do I really need seconds or do I want it just because it tastes good?”
“I just wanted to be healthy. I remember thinking, ‘I’m in my prime. I should be happy and fit.’ That was the moment I decided that changes needed to be made,” Sparks told Shape.
“I could only dream having a cover and looking like that,” she said of stripping down to her bikini on the magazine cover. “I thought, ‘I did it!’ I had to walk back to my dressing room and I had to pull myself together because I was overwhelmed. I cried. I shed a little tear but I’m really happy with how it turned out.”
