Miley Loses 20 Pounds: Is it Pilates or the Gluten/Lactose-Free Diet?

(PCM) Whatever it is, it’s working! Miley Cyrus has lost a total of 20 pounds since shunning gluten and dairy from her diet, and of course, introducing Pilates to her workout regimen – and the girl didn’t even need to lose any weight. Some might even say she’s too skinny now, but Miley insists she feels better than ever, and isn’t that what matters most?

She tweeted back in April: “Everyone should try no gluten for a week! The change in your skin, physical and mental health is amazing. You won’t go back!” (Miley is reportedly allergic to gluten, and a gluten-free diet is not recommended for everyone.)

But she’s also working her butt off!

According to her Pilates trainer, Mari Winsor, Miley’s new figure is due to working out nearly everyday. “Her mother had done Winsor Pilates, and when Miley wanted to do Pilates, her mom recommended me,” the instructor said. “Her results are due to her commitment, hard work, and everyday workouts. Miley is a fan of all Pilates exercises, in particular those that sculpt the abs.”

Pilates is an excellent workout, especially for toning without adding bulk. But, you don’t have to be in the studio with Mari Winsor everyday to see results! In fact, it’s more about diet than it is the Pilates. If you’re not watching your diet – as Miley clearly is – you won’t drop 20 pounds that quickly. Cutting gluten and dairy from your diet is a bit extreme; instead, eat 500 calories less than you need each day, and you’ll lose one pound a week (plus more with exercise!).
