Who knows beauty better than Miss USA? With her long, gorgeous hair and flawless complexion, Miss USA, Alyssa Campanella, knows a thing or two in the beauty department. She shares a few of her best tips for looking your best and staying healthy with Woman’s Health, reminding us that the two – both health and beauty – go hand in hand.
Here are a few highlights!
How she keeps her hair in such good shape despite all the work done to it:
I use a keratin-based shampoo and deep conditioner since my hair is constantly being curled, straightened or hair sprayed. I also like to use Australian Gold Clear Spray Gel SPF 15 because it protects my scalp from getting sunburned and tames frizz. Plus, it smells amazing…like hair perfume.
How she takes care of her skin:
I always apply an oil-free moisturizer with SPF 45 before doing my makeup, since I’m a California girl and the sun never stops shining out there! I also exfoliate regularly to get rid of any dead, dry skin cells.
Her healthy beauty diet:
I drink a lot of water! I’ve also been obsessed with acai berries lately. They’re really high in antioxidants, which are great for your skin and taste really good. I just throw some in my morning smoothies. I’m pretty well known for baking a lot of sweets, too, but recently I’ve swapped sugar for veggies. If you find fun ways to cook them and make them flavorful, they’re really delicious.
Her makeup staples:
Cherry ChapStick! It moisturizes my lips and gives them a slightly glossy, pink tint. I also love M.A.C Cosmetics Blush in Well Dressed, a baby pink shade with a satiny finish that complements my fair skin nicely. I also love Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer in Porcelain.
Her top secret beauty tricks:
“I whip up an amazing homemade body exfoliator: Mix olive oil and few pinches of sugar together, then get in the shower and scrub it all over. Rinse it off, then get out and dry off. Your skin will be like silk! Another bit of advice I have isn’t much of a trick at all—keep your routine simple, and be a natural beauty. It’s clean, it’s refreshing, and it’s beautiful.”
