Non-“Light” Beers That Won’t Weigh You Down!

You don’t have to drink watered-down, low calorie “light” beers if you’re trying to lose weight. In fact, unless you actually really like Coors Light, Bud Light, or even worse, MGD64, drinking light beers can actually backfire. It’s like eating a diet cookie over the real deal. You’re not satisfied after one, so you have another, and another, and before you know it half the package is gone and you’re left feeling full and bloated but still craving the real thing!

So stop obsessing over the word “light,” and end your search for the lowest calorie beer out there. It’s not going to taste good, and it’s not going to get the job done. Instead, opt for one of these flavorful beers that won’t leave you full of regret.

Dogfish Head Festina Peche – 4.5 ABV, 135 calories for 12 oz. Fruity, refreshing, and light enough that you won’t feel weighed down. It still only has 135 calories, so you could have 2 for less calories than most after dinner snacks.

Bard’s Tale Original Sorghum Malt Beer (Gluten-Free) – 4.6% ABV, 155 calories for 12 oz. There you go all you gluten-free dieters! This American lager is made from a naturally gluten-free species of grass called sorghum.

St. Peters Brewery Cinnamon Girl Spiced Ale – 4.2% ABV, 126 calories for 12 oz. It tastes like cinnamon! Enough said!

Beamish Dry Irish Stout – 4.1% ABV, 123 calories for 12 oz. While most stouts are higher in calories, this one is rich and creamy without all the calories. If you like stout, give it a try! For only 123 calories and 4.1% ABV, it’s worth trying.

Belhaven Scottish Ale – 3.9% ABV, 117 calories for 12 oz. This has comparable stats to most light beers on the market, but way more flavor. It’s malty and sweet, with hints of chocolate, but it’s still light enough that you can drink a few without feeling woozy…or heavy!

Cains Dark Mild – 3.2% ABV, 96 calories for 12 oz. That’s right, this dark, creamy ale has less calories than most light beers, but you’d never guess it. It’s a lower alcohol content, however, but it’s definitely worth trying out.

Guiness Draught – 4.2% ABV, 126 calories for 12 oz. This popular stout isn’t nearly as bad for you as people think! It’s rich, creamy, delicious and always on tap! Nothing wrong with making this your new go-to at the bar!
