(PCM) After the various attacks that have taken place at movie theaters throughout the country, Regal Entertainment Group has made the decision to begin searching patrons bags at certain theaters throughout the country. In a statement, which was quietly added to their company website they say ” Regal Entertainment Group wants our customers and staff to feel comfortable and safe when visiting or working in our theaters. To ensure the safety of our guests and employees, backpacks and bags of any kind are subject to inspection prior to admission. We acknowledge that this procedure can cause some inconvenience and that it is not without flaws, but hope these are minor in comparison to increased safety.”
The exact date that Regal added the notice about potential searches is not completely clear, but was most likely after the recent shooting at a theater chain in Louisiana. Patrons at theaters in Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Florida, Ohio and a few other states have reported that they have been searched when going into the theater. It appears however that the searches are not being conducted at all of the theaters over 7,300 locations at this time.
Looks like the days of trying to sneak candy and other snacks into the theater could soon be over! Do you feel that these searches are good measure to ensure patron safety or an invasion of privacy?
