(PCM) In the wake of the church shooting tragedy that took place in Charleston, South Carolina, Walmart has announced that, effective immediately, they will stop selling any items depicting the Confederate flag. The company will be removing any items that depict the controversial flag from their nearly 11,000 brick and mortar stores, as well as, online.
In a statement, Walmart says, “We never want to offend anyone with the products we offer. We have taken steps to remove all items promoting the confederate flag from our assortment — whether in our stores or on our web site.”
Walmart’s announcement came just shortly after it was announced that South Carolina governor Nikki Haley called for the Confederate flag be removed from the grounds of the State House in South Carolina’s capitol city Columbia.
