A woman from Los Angeles says Olay didn’t get rid of a single wrinkle, and she wants revenge against the “snake oil salesmen.”
Lorette Perez-Pirio has brought a class-action suit against Procter & Gamble Co., accusing its Olay Regenerist line of anti-aging products of false advertising and “ill-gotten gains.” She says the company’s magazine and internet ads, as well as the product labels for the Anti-Aging Eye Roller and the Regenerating Eye Cream “misrepresent the effects and purported benefits of the products.”
The products claim to reduce puffiness, dark circles, fine lines and wrinkles, and promise younger looking skin – results Ms. Perez-Pirio did not receive. In fact, the suit claims that P&G are aware of this misrepresentation and continue to sell the products without the reliable scientific evidence to substantiate their claims.
“In an effort to capitalize on this growing and robust market, manufacturers routinely make far-fetched claims about the benefits of a product,” the suit claims, accusing the company of being “snake oil salesmen.” Perez-Pirio is asking for injunctive relief and restitution.
Hmm…Did she really think a little eye cream was going to take years off her face? These products will not do what years of proper TLC to your face does. If you’re lucky, it’ll help get rid of dark circles and a little puffiness, but really, there’s no such thing as “hope in a jar.” Take care of your skin at a young age, and you won’t be so desperate for these products to work!
