(PCM) The news about the benefits of sleeping naked have been circulating around for a good number of years now, however according to the National Sleep Foundation, only about 12% of people actually follow this advice. Research shows that a heft majority of people just out and out refuse to sleep in the nude for a variety of different reasons.

Experts claim that sleeping in the buff is both good for your body and good for your relationship with your partner, as well as a slew of other reasons which were recently complied in list by Good Housekeeping magazine.

It is known that your body temperature goes down as you sleep and several studies link insomnia with being too hot. According to GH, being naked helps you fall asleep faster and stay asleep by keeping your body cooler.

The GH list also reveals that sleeping naked can make you look younger because when the body is cooled down properly, it releases anti-aging hormones (melatonin and growth hormone) and if the body temperature stays too high the regenerative power is blocked. Sleeping nude is ultimately a beauty blessing.

Also, sleeping in the nude can help increase the bond between you and your partner. Oxytocin, otherwise known as the love hormone,  is naturally release through skin to skin contact. It’s presence has been known to increase both bonding and emotional closeness in relationships. It can also boost self-esteem and overall confidence.

Finally, there can even be a immunity and physical fitness boost from sleeping in the nude. Skin to skin contact decreases the body’s production of cortisol, which suppresses the immune system. As cortisol levels go down at night than energy and hunger levels can stay balanced the following day.
