Elton John Calls For A Dolce & Gabbana Boycott Over In Vitro Fertilization Feud

(PCM) A social media war has sprung up between singer Elton John and fashion designers Dolce & Gabbana over both the hot-button issues of gay marriage and in vitro fertilization. Both John and Dolce & Gabbana are calling for a boycott of each other’s brands and it is beginning to get ugly.

The feud began after designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana gave a recent interview and made comments criticizing the use of in vitro fertilization in the creation of babies saying “No chemical offsprings and rented uterus: life has a natural flow, there are things that should not be changed.”

Dolce also added “You are born to a mother and a father — or at least that’s how it should be … I call children of chemistry, synthetic children. Rented uterus, semen chosen from catalog.” Gabbana closed by remarking “The family is not a fad. In it there is a supernatural sense of belonging.”

Upon learning about Dolce & Gabbana’s comment, Sir Elton John was understandably infuriated and he and his husband David Furnish have two beautiful children as a result of the use of IVF. He slammed Dolce & Gabbana on social media saying “How dare you refer to my beautiful children as ‘synthetic.’ And shame on you for wagging your judgmental little fingers at IVF — a miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay, to fulfill their dream of having children. Your archaic thinking is out of step with the times, just like your fashions. I shall never wear Dolce and Gabbana ever again. #BoycottDolceGabbana.”

Dolce & Gabbana’s comments are definitely surprising as both men are openly gay and were together in a relationship for nearly 20 years. However, both have spoken out in the past about being against same sex marriages and gay adoption.

Many other celebrities are standing behind John and supporting the Dolce & Gabbana boycott including Al Roker and Ryan Murphy. Dolce & Gabbana are calling for their supporters to boycott Elton John and even resorted to calling him a “fascist”. They claim that it was not their intention to judge anyone else’s choices and Dolce was speaking from his own family experience.
