(PCM) Your cell phone could be to blame!
If you’re having trouble falling asleep at night, one of the first things experts advise is to turn off all electronic devices at least an hour before bed, e.g. your cell phone, television, computer. That’s because electronic’s artificial blue light can suppress the sleep hormone melatonin, as well as amp up brain activity.
But your cell phone could be affecting your sleep even if you don’t actually touch it before bed. A recent poll by the National Sleep Foundation found that 20 percent of 19- to 29-year-olds are awakened by a call, text, or e-mail at least a few nights a week! Keep your phone on silent and put it far away from your bed; better yet, turn it off! Those late-night text messages can wait until the morning!
