Think you can’t find fashion-forward designs at affordable department stores? Kohl’s latest collaboration concept just might change what you thought you knew about the department store.
American designer Narcisco Rodriguez is teaming up with Kohl’s to create an exclusive limited-edition collection for the department store. This partnership will be the first for the store’s new fashion concept collection, DesigNation, which will feature exclusive collections from different renowned fashion designers. Each DesigNation collaboration will be influenced by an international destination, and will only be available for a limited period of time.
Rodriguez was inspired by Istanbul, Turkey for his upcoming collection, telling WWD:
“It was a really interesting idea to travel somewhere you had never been to before, and get your inspiration from a place that wouldn’t normally be in your comfort zone, bring that back and turn it into a collection. I was completely inspired by the people, the city and all the different cultures.”
In Istanbul, I found beauty in colors, textures and patterns, but also in the nuances of the city; the patina on the walls, the color of the stone and the way people moved. I am excited to partner with Kohl’s to bring this DesigNation collection to life and provide women with beautiful clothing at an accessible price.”
The Narciso Rodriguez collection will be available from November through December 2012, exclusively at Kohl’s stores and Kohls.com. The collection will include women’s outerwear, dresses, skirts, pants and shirts, priced between $30 to $150.
It hasn’t been officially confirmed, but according to some sources, Kohl’s second DesigNation collection will be with Derek Lam in Spring 2013!
