That Extra Slice or Two Could Be Aging You

Overeating could be doing more than just adding inches to your waistline. Researchers from St. Louis University discovered that overeating can take years off of your life!

The study found that limiting calories lowered production of T3, a thyroid hormone that slows metabolism and speeds up the aging process. Need more evidence? According to Health, longevity expert and author Dan Buettner discovered that the oldest Japanese people stop eating when they feel 80% full. Japan holds the number one spot for life expectancy at birth.

You don’t have to starve yourself or drastically slash your calorie intake. Small changes can lead to big results. Watch your portion sizes by using smaller plates and bowls, measuring serving sizes, packing away half of your restaurant meals, and not snacking in front of the TV or while distracted by other activities. You’ll gain a few years back, and maybe even lose a few around the middle.
