Ward Off Cold and Flu Season With This Crunchy Vegetable

(PCM) Celery may be considered a “negative calorie” food, but it’s certainly not devoid of nutrients. At less than 10 calories per stalk, you might not think celery has much to offer in terms of vitamins and minerals, but you’re wrong; just a few stalks a day can help ward off the flu this season!

According to Rodale, celery is rich in minerals, vitamin C, and phenolic acids, which help ward off cancer, cold and flu, and allergies. It’s also a cholesterol-lowering veggie, too!

You can munch on it plain or with hummus, spread a tablespoon of natural peanut butter on a few stalks for a satisfying snack, or throw a few extra stalks into stews, soups, and casseroles. And don’t forget to use the leaves, too, because they’re full of nutrients!

Wash celery well, and buy organic when you it’s available: it’s one of the most pesticide-contaminated vegetables out there.
